EPK Kalejdoskop Trio

Kalejdoskop Trio is a prism of Nordic trad. Vocals, shruti box, clarinet, and hardanger fiddle create a sound with a raw core and vast space, where both heart-wrenching doomsday chorales and groovy dance tunes resonate. Their debut album Kalejdoskop strikes with full force, both raw and sophisticated. This has led to, among other things, a nomination for Newcomer of the Year at the Swedish Folk & World Music Gala, showcases at Nordic Folk Alliance and Live At Heart, as well as the honor of representing NRK at the Euroradio Folk Festival and Rudolstadt Festival.
Gard Nergaard (hardanger fiddle and viola) has deep roots in the traditional music of southern Norway, combined with a rare breadth as both a musician and storyteller. His monumental double album Seint var det om kvelden was a milestone — the first work to present the full fiddle tradition from Mandalen, the southernmost valley in Norway, in its entirety. Gard is also one half of the music and theatre duo Alvina & Gard, who released the album Tillflykten in 2024 and are currently touring with the children's performance Platt Planet.
Sofia Hultqvist Kott (vocals and shruti box) has her roots in Jämtland and is a versatile musician and composer who explores all corners and edges of folk singing. In 2025 she debuted as a solo artist through the multi-award winning record label Supertraditional Records. The EP "I Norr" was produced by Sara Parkman and Hampus Norén and released under the artist name Sofia HK.
Albin Myrin (clarinet) from Karlstad, is firmly rooted in several Nordic folk music styles and has, among other things, specialized in playing Hardanger fiddle music and microtonality on the clarinet. Albin also plays in the trio Västanvinden and the folk music/dance quintet VAK. His solo album "10 Springleikar från Lom" was released in November 2022 through the Norwegian record label Melovitten.
“Kalejdoskop’s brand-new album goes straight to the heart, leaving no doubt that the next generation of folk musicians is ready to carry the tradition forward while shaping it in new directions. Their focused and sincere stage presence gives the audience a sense that time stands still in an otherwise hectic world.”
– Nomination for Newcomer of the Year, The Swedish Folk and World Music Gala

– Ronja Grafström, Lira Music Magazine
“Dynamic – unpretentious, organic, impactful. This isn’t background music – it’s sofa-listening that moves you deeply. Could be some of the best music I’ve ever heard.”
– Josefina Paulson, Swedish riksspelman
